Season of Giving Continues with Share-a-Bear at VJH

The gift of giving continues at Vernon Jubilee Hospital this season with BC Liquor Stores once again inviting their customers to Share-a-Bear and support a good cause.

Since 1989 liquor distribution branches have been supporting local charities by encouraging their customers to purchase twin stuffed bears during the holiday season. The customer takes one bear home to give as a gift and the twin bear is then donated to the store for distribution to a local charity. This year the adorable fuzzy bears with matching green plaid toques are selling for $12.70 plus tax and are proving very popular with North Okanagan residents.

“While BC Liquor Stores employees are proud to deliver our cuddly bears to their local charities knowing they’ll bring a smile to a child’s face, ultimately it is our customers’ generosity that makes this campaign a success every year,” said Jonathan Castaneto, Director, BCLS Operations. “Customers can still purchase the bears throughout the month of December at any local BC liquor store,” continued Castaneto.

“Even in this very unusual year, our hospital doesn’t shut down. Regular surgeries and treatments still occur. And unfortunately, families still need to bring their child in sometimes.  Providing children of all ages with something as cute as these little bears offers a great distraction. The staff can’t wait to distribute them and bring smiles to young and old,” stated Kate McBrearty, VJH Foundation Executive Director.

This year the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation received over 150 Share-a-Bears to be distributed within VJH during the holiday season.
