Thank you for supporting Light A Bulb!

This year, we set out to raise funds to expand VJH’s ultrasound department because it is stretched far beyond capacity.

Our community’s outpouring of support for our annual Light A Bulb campaign completely blew us away!
Thanks to your incredible generosity we’re one step closer to making this a reality.

Wait times for ultrasound have doubled in the past three years

Demand for ultrasound services are projected to increase by 111% in the next decade. Because of your support, we can build larger, more accessible diagnostic rooms, create a bigger Ultrasound department and purchase two new ultrasound machines. By expanding ultrasound services, we can add up to 5,000 more scans each year, and meet demand in our region for the next 20 years.

Waiting feels unbearable when your health is at stake

Tania was 43 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her journey through chemotherapy, radiation treatment and surgery has been guided by multiple ultrasounds and other imaging. By expanding ultrasound services at VJH, more people like Tania can get the diagnosis and treatment they need.

Thank you for your support on GivingTuesday!

On Dec 3 2024 we celebrated GivingTuesday, a global day of giving celebrated around the world.

Thanks to the incredible response of our local community, we are one step closer to creating a new and expanded Ultrasound department to meet the needs of patients in the North Okanagan.

This GivingTuesday was particularly extraordinary thanks to a $250,000 matching donation from Kurt and Jutta Knuever, as well as a $30,000 match from an anonymous donor.

When it comes to improving health care, every dollar counts. We are so grateful to have such a committed donor community with individuals who understand how vital timely access to medical imaging is. On GivingTuesday, you proved, once again, the power of community to support the growth of our hospital's facilities.

Thank you for lighting the way to better healthcare!
Stay tuned for our results announcement.
