Interior Savings Supports 15th Annual ‘Do It For Dad’ Run & Walk
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation is proud to announce Interior Savings as the Title Sponsor for the 15th annual Do It For Dad Run/Walk to be held June 15th at Coldstream Ranch.“When we work together to improve the quality of life for our friends, family and neighbours, we build a stronger community,” says Kathy Conway, CEO of Interior Savings. “We are pleased to support the community’s efforts in the fight against prostate cancer.”For the past 14 years, Interior Savings has sponsored the event to fight prostate cancer, which is the third leading cause of death from cancer in men in Canada. On average, 65 Canadian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer every day and it is estimated 11 Canadian men will die from this disease daily.“‘Do It For Dad’ is an important Father’s Day tradition with longstanding support from our sponsors, volunteers and participants,” says Sue Beaudry, Director of Development for Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.This year’s ‘Do It For Dad’ will feature a fun-filled morning beginning with the Coldstream Fire Department signaling the start of the race with their fire truck sirens. The Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band will serenade participants from the hillsides along the route and the delightful Kalamalka Caring Klowns will entertain.Event Founder and Honourary Chair, Dr. April Sanders, will be presenting awards and prizes donated by local supporters, to top finishers in male and female categories, as well as most funds raised by an individual and team. Brian Martin of Sun FM will be returning as the master of ceremonies and following the run & walk lunch will be provided thanks to the generosity of Subway.Every Father’s Day since 2003, VJH Foundation and the Vernon Prostate Cancer Support & Awareness Group have hosted the run which has raised a total of $288,850 for prostate cancer awareness, testing and treatment.All proceeds raised from Do It For Dad stay in the North Okanagan community to assist with the education & awareness of prostate cancer. This year, funds are being raised and to purchase a ureterorenoscope for the treatment of prostate cancer at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.Registration opens at 8:30 am and the walk & run starts at 9:30. Registration is $10 for youths and $20 for adults. Participants who raise $50 or more in pledges will have their registration fee waived.
