SUN FM Have a Heart Radiothon Raises a Record $62,100!

The Sun FM 13th annual “Have a Heart Radiothon” raised a record $62,100 in twelve hours.From 6 am to 6 pm on April 28th, Brian Martin and Betty Selin broadcasted live from Village Green Centre, while individuals, businesses and community groups rose to the challenge, donating funds and event proceeds to support our kids at VJH.The day began with a great start, having raised $6,850 from The Rice Box Wokathon event that took place in January.“We would like to thank everyone who generously contributed to Radiothon,” said Elise Allan, VJH Foundation President.“From those who gave donations and gift incentives, to the volunteers who answered phones and collected donations throughout the day, to the families who shared their stories of the help received at VJH, you made it happen.”Funds raised will purchase a Central Monitoring System for Women’s & Children’s Health Services at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. The system will provide exceptional care for infants and children at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. A Central Monitoring System promotes timely, targeted care and lets nursing staff simultaneously view the vital signs of a number of infants and children from the nursing station.This will help them deliver faster and more efficient care at the most critical times, when it is most needed. It will also allow children to rest more comfortably with fewer bedside interruptions.Since 2004, Sun FM Radiothon has raised $590,776 for kids at VJH. “The dedication and support from Brian Martin, Betty Selin and the amazing team at Sun FM continues to help make health care better for kids and families in the North Okanagan,” said Allan.
