Light a Bulb Campaign Surpasses Halfway Mark
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Light a Bulb Campaign has raised $162,249 towards its $250,000 goal to purchase endoscopes for cancer screening equipment at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
A significant donation from the Armstrong/Spallumcheen Health Care Auxiliary (A/SHA) helped boost the campaign to 65% of needed funds raised. Through proceeds from its Armstrong thrift shop, the Bargain Bin, the Auxiliary was able to contribute $40,000 to Light a Bulb.
The Bargain Bin sells donated goods such as clothing, housewares, jewelry and books to raise funds for local health care needs.
“It’s a wonderful testament to the spirit of our community to see what a dedicated group of volunteers and supportive community members can do,” said Lisa Westermark, VJH Foundation Executive Director.
A/SHA has a longstanding tradition of supporting VJH Foundation, contributing annually since 1996.
Giving to Light a Bulb is also a tradition for many North Okanagan families, often through donations made in memory of a loved one or to acknowledge the care received at VJH.
“Good health care is vital for the well-being of a community,” said Westermark. “Continuing support from our donors is essential in helping bring the best possible outcomes for the lives of our families, friends and neighbours.”
