Give to Light a Bulb and Get a Tax Break

With the end of 2019 just around the corner, North Okanagan residents are reminded that there is still time to help others, and also help yourself at the same time.

The annual Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation Light a Bulb campaign will close on December 31, and the iconic red tree will be turned off for another year. However, there is still time to make an impact to healthcare in your community and donate to the campaign.

“Giving just feels good, especially at this time of year. When you donate to Light a Bulb you know that the funds stay in our community and are making a difference to local healthcare. As an added benefit, if you give prior to the end of the year, your donation is eligible for a tax credit. It’s winning all around,” said Kevin Arbuckle, VJH Foundation President and 2019 Light a Bulb Chairperson.

“We are still shy of our goal this year of raising $275,000 for urgently needed equipment in our hospital, and every dollar truly counts. For only $35 you can light one bulb on the tree of lights, while $500 will light an entire string. We are optimistic that our community will once again pull together and help us reach our target,” stated Kate McBrearty, Executive Director, VJH Foundation.
