Generous Donation in Recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The VJH Foundation is very thankful to receive a generous donation from the Buoyant Buddies in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Buoyant Buddies is a local breast cancer survivor dragon boat team that has been together for 24 years. The group practices every Tuesday and Thursday evening from May to September at the Vernon Rowing and Dragon Boat Club on Swan Lake. They compete in three to five festivals a year and have competed internationally multiple times.  This year the Buoyant Buddies competed in festivals in Salmon Arm, Vernon, Kamloops and Penticton.  Some of our ladies are currently getting ready for an international festival in France August 2026.

The money donated was raised at the Vernon Dragon Boat festival held in June and is designated to the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Clinic.

Thank you to all the Buoyant Buddies for your generosity and commitment to supporting health care!
