Light A Bulb Exceeds Goal
Despite a slow start, the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Light a Bulb campaign raised $251,940, surpassing its $250,000 goal.“It started a little slower than expected, but in the end, the community came through,” says Campaign Co-Chair Richard Finn. “We asked for help and people responded with resounding support.”Businesses, individuals and organizations contributed to the Campaign in amounts of $10 to more than $25,000.“Every donation we received was important in making this happen. We want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed to Light a Bulb for better health care in the North Okanagan,” says Finn. All funds raised from Light a Bulb will be designated to the Tower of Care Campaign to furnish and equip the 6th and 7th floors of Polson Tower at VJH.“This is very encouraging,” says Co-Chair Dr. Chris Cunningham. “More than 9,600 patients were admitted to VJH in 2012-13. We need more rooms, more beds and life-saving equipment. The support from Light a Bulb brings us closer to achieving our $2.5 million goal for Tower of Care.”Generous donations to Light a Bulb were gratefully received from Awards & Trophies Headquarters, Leko Precast and Sunridge Poultry Farms. The VJH Foundation offers its deepest appreciation to all of the individuals, businesses and organizations that generously supported the 26th annual Light a Bulb Campaign.
