27th Annual Light a Bulb Kicks Off at VJH
Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation launched its 27th annual Christmas tradition, Light a Bulb, on Wednesday, November 5. Duane Grandbois from KISS FM broadcasted the event live from 10 am to 2 pm at the south entrance of the Jubilee Building. The Campaign will be co-chaired by Dr. Chris Cunningham and Richard Finn, Vice President of VJH Foundation. “All proceeds from this year’s Light a Bulb will support the Tower of Care Campaign to equip and furnish the 6th & 7th floors at VJH,” said Finn. “We are excited to be part of this campaign that will have so many benefits to the health of North Okanagan residents.”
With a goal to raise $250,000 by the end of December, the success of Light a Bulb will ensure Tower of Care is completed by the end of 2015. “Doctors, hospital staff and community members have been eagerly anticipating the completion of the top floors,” said Sue Beaudry, Director of Development for VJH Foundation. Light a Bulb will bring us that much closer to seeing this become a reality in the near future.”
Local businesses are taking a lead role in helping to ensure the success of the campaign. Nolan’s Pharmasave, located at 3101 30th Avenue, accepted donations on behalf of Light a Bulb throughout launch day, while Silver Star Mountain will donate 100% of proceeds from their Season Opener Lift Ticket Sales Campaign which takes place November 15th at Cooper’s Foods, Safeway (Vernon Square), and Save-On Foods.Businesses, schools, clubs or organizations wishing to support Light a Bulb through their own special fundraising events are encouraged to contact the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation office at 250-558-1362.Since 1988, Light a Bulb has raised approximately $3.75 million that has purchased essential medical equipment for the hospital.
