For many North Okanagan residents, Light a Bulb has become synonymous with seasonal giving to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
Since 1988, Light a Bulb has raised $4,534,945 to purchase medical equipment for Vernon Jubilee Hospital, such as a CT Scanner, Cardiac Stress Testing equipment, ventilators, an operating table, an anaesthesia machine, birthing beds, a Holmiun laser, endoscopes, arthroscopic video cameras, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, ENT Navigation system, equipment and furnishings for the 6th and 7th floor of Polson Tower, surgical equipment for the OR, and high definition camera heads and control units for the OR.
The Campaign is launched at a special location each November and runs until the end of December. During the campaign, strings of bulbs are lit on the tree atop the Hospital to represent incoming donations. By the end of the Campaign, the fully-lit tree symbolizes the success of the Campaign and the enhancement of healthcare in the North Okanagan.
This year’s Light a Bulb is raising $250,000 for diagnostic testing and cancer screening equipment for the Ambulatory Care department at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
