Many thanks to Army, Navy, Air Force Vets Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Pythian Sisters Temple #21 for their donations of $500 to the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre.
The McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre opened in in 1998, heralding a new era of cancer care at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
In 2012, VJH Foundation raised more than $500,000 for the expansion of the Cancer Centre, including renovations and equipment purchases.
The Centre provides a centralized, coordinated, community cancer care program. Interior Health, in partnership with the BC Cancer Agency, operates the Cancer Centre which continues to be a starting point for people newly diagnosed with cancer and supports them in their journey through the process.
More than 300 new patients visit the Cancer Centre each year, with more than 3,000 patients requiring follow-up visits.
