6th Annual Rock for Care
This ain’t your Granddaddy’s rock around the clock. This is the 6th Annual Rock for Care! Continuing its tradition of supporting healthcare in the North Okanagan, The Longhorn Pub proudly presents 12 hours of Rock & Roll on Sunday March 9 at The Longhorn on 4513 – 25th Avenue.
Hosted by the Wheelhouse Band, non-stop entertainment takes place from noon to midnight. Twelve BC bands will be taking the stage, with a new act performing every hour.
The event kicks off at noon with the Paddio Daddio’s, followed by Indecision, Margit Sky Band, Chicks 3 and the Zipper, Whiskey Dick, No Fixed Address, Hip Replacements, Steeltoad, Spare Parts, Red Fish, Lefty and closes with Wheelhouse.
“We have a nice mix of rock and roll bands who are donating their time and talents for some great entertainment while supporting our local hospital,” says Eric Juzwishyn co-owner of The Longhorn Pub.
Rock for Care will also feature a live and silent auction and T-shirt sales. Some of the auction items include a Budweiser guitar, beer fridge, wine packages and much more. Since 2009, this event has raised over $21,000 towards medical equipment for the Polson Tower and Cancer Centre at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Admission to Rock for Care is by donation. All proceeds will support the Cancer Centre and Digital Mammography at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. “The dedication of The Longhorn Pub, their staff, sponsors and supporters is greatly appreciated by VJH Foundation,” says Sue Beaudry Director of Development for VJH Foundation. “I also wish to thank the musicians who have given so generously of their time for without them this wouldn’t happen. A lot of work goes into this event, and many benefits to health care are the result.”
